Become part of a larger growing national community of competitive dance right here in Fort Collins at Studio West Dance Center. It is an exciting time for competitive dance in this country. SWDC has been actively competing with our ensemble/competition team regionally and nationally since 2008.

Auditions for SWDC Ensemble Team will be held on June 1st, 2024. There will be an informational meeting for parents on May 17th, 2024.

Competitive Dance in Fort Collins

Studio West Dance Center’s Ensemble Team is committed to developing the “all-’round” dancer. Let our national award winning team and faculty take the more serious dancer who is looking to push their talents forward as well as grow their performance artistry to the next level.

Our program will navigate the artist from the ages of 4-18 through the competition/convention dance world and bridge them to the best college dance programs, to film and television, cruise ships, contemporary companies, music videos and world tours. Your dancer will train anywhere from 5-15+ hours per week in an all inclusive program of Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary and more. SWDC’s in house training, in conjunction with conventions, master classes, travel, and intensives is the ultimate all-’round dance experience.

Your dancer will audition with the age group they are ON AUDITION DAY!
SWDC will place dancers in pieces according to overall scores during auditions as well as past performance (for current members of the SWDC Ensemble Company)
SWDC reserves the right to place dancers to teams/age levels as they see fit.
Placement is at the discretion of the SWDC Ensemble Company Faculty.

Solo Requirements:

8+ group pieces required for ages 8+

Duo/trio Requirements:

5+ group pieces for ages 8+

Petities solo/duo/trio:

No minimum number of groups required.

Interest in solo/duo/trio does not guarantee placement.
Partner requests for solos/duos/trios WILL NOT be considered.
Placement is at the discretion of the Ensemble Director and Coaches.

Focus Options (For Dancers 8+)

Young Dancer and Professional Company Focus:

Ensemble option for all dancers. Preparing dancers for the convention, post-secondary and professional world. Maximum weekly class requirements.

Multi-Disciplinary Focus:

Ensemble option for advanced dancers in Middle School or High School who are pre-approved by the Director.
One night of Ballet plus Tap, Hip Hop, Jazz/Leaps/Turns, Contemporary, and Team Class.

*Please Note: This application is your acceptance of pieces. There will be no declining of pieces once application is submitted and approved. Solo/Duo/Trio’s will not be considered after auditions, as we are subject to a certain maximum allowed at competitions.

Attire

Black cami, tank or sports bra and black dance shorts or pants are required. Appropriate footwear for each style is also required.
